Porenix membranes operate in ultrafiltration regime. The membranes can be supplied according the following specifications:
| Membrane size and shape |
3-150 mm discs, 2-100 mm rectangular plates |
 |
| Membrane thickness |
30-500 nm |
| Pore size |
50-500 nm |
| Porosity |
20-30% |
| Membrane material |
SiOx or SiNx |
| Support material |
Silicon |
| Support thickness |
100-500 µm |
| Membrane coating |
Ceramic, metallic or polymeric |
| Temperature resistance |
-30 to 600°C |
Porenix membranes provide the following benefits:
- very high filtration speed due to high density of the nanopores and very low thickness of the membrane
- very high accuracy of the separation in 10-500nm size range
- extremely high recovery efficiency of filtrate/retentate due to shallow pores
- easy cleaning and prevention of fouling due to flatness of the membranes and absence of dead-end pores
- stability in high temperatures (up to 600C) and chemically harsh environments (all solvents, most acids and bases)
- small dimensions which can be beneficial for high level multiplexing and integration in various devices
- possibility to integrate with electronics and sensors due to silicon based materials and fabrication technology
- possibility of high-resolution optical and electron microscopy of retentates in situ due to flatness and transparency both to photons and electrons.
